Charles Forshaw

Charles was the youngest child of Wallace Forshaw (1871-1923) and Eliza (née Ryder) Forshaw of Bilston, Staffordshire (1873-1940). They were married in Salford on 4 August 1894 at Christ Church, Salford.  Wallace and Eliza had eight children: John, Wallace, Samuel, Jane, William, and Ronald (who appear in the 1911 census), and Alfred (1911) and Charles (1913-).   In World War II, on 23 December 1940, Eliza Forshaw was killed during the Manchester / Salford Blitz. She died at Hope Hospital, but it is not clear whether, she was taken there as a result of her injuries sustained elsewhere, or whether she was on the staff of the hospital. The hospital was hit by a parachute mine on the day Eliza died. She is buried at Agecroft Cemetery.
